Dry Ingredients
- 4 and ½ cups (135g) Rice Chex® cereal
- ⅔ cup (134g) sprinkles
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
Wet Ingredients
- ¼ cup (57g) unsalted butter, cut into 8 slices
- 8 ounces (227g) high quality white chocolate
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Prepare Cereal: Pour the Rice Chex cereal into a large bowl and set aside to be coated later.
- Melt Chocolate Mixture: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and white chocolate along with the almond and vanilla extracts while stirring constantly until the mixture is completely smooth and melted. Remove from heat immediately to prevent burning.
- Coat Cereal: Pour the melted white chocolate mixture over the cereal. Gently stir with a spatula or spoon to evenly coat all the cereal pieces with the chocolate mixture.
- Add Sprinkles: Transfer the coated cereal into a large zip-top bag or a container with a tight-fitting lid. Add the sprinkles, then shake well to evenly disperse the sprinkles throughout the coated cereal.
- Coat with Powdered Sugar: Add the powdered sugar to the bag or container. Seal it and shake vigorously again until the powdered sugar fully coats the cereal pieces. Spread the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment paper, and let it cool completely. Discard any excess powdered sugar.
- Store the Puppy Chow: Once cooled, store the Puppy Chow in an airtight container at room temperature. Consume within one week for optimal freshness and texture.

- This snack can be stored at room temperature but should be kept in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
- Feel free to swap sprinkles with mini chocolate chips or colored sugar for different variations.
- Ensure the cereal is completely coated with powdered sugar to get the classic Puppy Chow texture and flavor.
