Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and granulated sugar. Let the mixture sit for 5 to 10 minutes until it becomes foamy, indicating that the yeast is active.
  2. Prepare the dough: Add the melted butter, egg, salt, and blue food coloring to the yeast mixture. Gradually incorporate the all-purpose flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Roll the dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a rectangular shape about ¼ inch thick.
  6. Add filling: Spread softened butter evenly over the rolled dough. Sprinkle the brown sugar and ground cinnamon mixture over the buttered surface.
