Slider Ingredients
- 12 Hawaiian rolls
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 4 ounces sliced ham
- 4 ounces pulled pork
- 4 ounces Swiss cheese
- 12 dill pickle slices
Butter Topping
- 1 tablespoon butter (melted)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350˚F (175˚C) to prepare for baking the sliders.
- Prepare Rolls: Cut the Hawaiian rolls horizontally and place the bottoms cut side up on a baking sheet with edges to contain any juices.
- Spread Sauce: Combine the mayonnaise and mustard in a small bowl, then spread this mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bottom halves of the rolls.
- Assemble Sliders: Layer the sliced ham, pulled pork, and Swiss cheese over the sauce on each roll bottom. Place one dill pickle slice on each for that classic Cuban flavor. Then, place the tops back on the rolls.
- Prepare Butter Topping: Melt the butter and stir in the garlic salt until well combined. Brush this mixture generously over the top of the assembled rolls to add flavor and help browning.
- Prepare for Baking: Cover the sliders with a sheet of aluminum foil to prevent drying and aid with clean up. Then place a second heavy baking sheet on top of the foil-covered sliders to press them slightly during baking.
- Bake Sliders: Bake for 10-14 minutes in the preheated oven, until the sliders are heated through and the cheese is melted.
- Serve: Remove from the oven, take off the top baking sheet and foil, cut the sliders apart carefully, and serve warm. Enjoy your delicious Cuban Sliders!
Notes
- Use freshly baked Hawaiian rolls for the best texture and taste.
- Pulled pork can be store-bought or homemade for a more authentic flavor.
- Adjust garlic salt to taste or substitute with garlic powder and regular salt if preferred.
- For a spicier kick, add a slice of jalapeño or use spicy mustard instead of yellow mustard.
- Toasting the sliders with the baking sheet on top helps press the sandwiches and warms them evenly, simulating a Panini effect without a press.
