Pie Chips with Fruit Salsa is a delightful and easy-to-make dessert snack featuring crispy baked pie crust chips dusted with cinnamon sugar, paired perfectly with a fresh, vibrant mixed fruit salsa. This treat balances sweet and tart flavors and adds a fun twist to traditional pie by turning it into a crunchy chip served with juicy fruit salsa for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale

Pie Chips

  • 1 store-bought or homemade pie crust (9-inch round)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Fruit Salsa

  • 2 cups mixed fruit, finely chopped (e.g., strawberries, kiwi, mango, blueberries)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for added sweetness)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pie Crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the pie crust on a lightly floured surface if needed. Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut the pie crust into bite-sized chip shapes, such as triangles or squares.
  2. Coat the Pie Chips: In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon. Lightly brush the pie crust pieces with water or a little melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the top of the pie crust chips.
  3. Bake the Pie Chips: Place the coated pie crust pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the chips are golden brown and crispy. Remove from oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
  4. Prepare the Fruit Salsa: While the pie chips bake, finely chop the mixed fruit and place them in a medium bowl. Add honey or maple syrup if using, and freshly squeezed lime juice. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Serve: Arrange the cooled pie chips on a serving plate alongside the fruit salsa for dipping. Enjoy immediately to maintain the chips’ crispiness.

Notes

  • Use a cold pie crust for easier cutting and crispier chips.
  • The cinnamon sugar coating can be adjusted to taste or omitted for a less sweet version.
  • Use seasonal or your favorite fruits for the salsa for best flavor.
  • Pie chips are best enjoyed fresh to prevent them from becoming soggy.
  • Store any leftover pie chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
